Why is testing so important?

Why Test?

No matter what endeavor you consider, be it weight loss, gathering wealth, getting faster, adding

strength or any task that is trying to bring about growth, there are a few key components. Developing

baseball/softball skills is no different.

1) You must know where you are right now.

2) You must know where you want to go.

3) You must have a solid plan to bring about positive changes.

Testing is simply the first step in this growth process. You must know where you are in order to start

monitoring the growth you are seeking. We use some simple measurements that help players

determine EXACTLY where they are NOW. For hitters to measure raw power potential, exit speed is

simply the very best indicator of how efficient the swing movements are. Tee Exit Speed equals raw

power. Period. There are no forces, other than the players’ own swing movements, that influence the

Tee Exit Speed. A simple 3 second video clip of a player hitting the ball off the tee, with the exit speed

displayed on the screen, is the first step to determining a hitters’ starting point.

With certified testing and training, tests and programs are designed for every skill set at every level of

baseball and softball. This insures that players continue to grow from the first day they step into the

facility, and the proof of continued growth is in the numbers. Testing not only tells us the accurate

starting point, it also quantifies growth during the training process.

The next step in the process is to analyze the swing movements to determine which movements are

efficient. Then we help the player design an individually customized workout to specifically improve

the swing movements that are inefficient. Once the player knows the exact swing movements that

need attention, they can begin focusing on the right movements. This is the most direct method to

insure improvement. It is very common to see players spend years on drills that simply do not address

their specific needs. So their personal growth is very slow at best.

For instance, the testing events are designed to identify the strengths and weaknesses of hitters through objective measurement, putting data on the video screen so that you can see the output of the swing as well as the movement causing it.  You can't really make decisions about where to go next if you don't know where you're at right now.  The only real way to find out is to test.  Otherwise, you are just guessing about where you're at.  Measuring bat speed tells hitters how much energy their body is producing.  Ball exit speed is the amount of that energy that is being used on the ball and the difference between the two is the swing efficiency.  How much energy does your swing produce and are you at your max level?  How much of that energy is making to contact in the form of ball exit speed?  You might be surprised to find out the answers to these questions. Objective Measurement simply means to measure output without opinion and it is the key to any true growth in your swing.  If you are serious about getting to the next level, test your swing and find out.

Our proven training philosophy takes a very focused approach. First, identify the inefficient swing

movements and make them better by prescribing drills that are designed to enhance each individual

movement. When the movement gets more efficient, the swing gets more efficient. How do you know?

The test numbers show you in full color. It isn’t left up to the opinion of a coach or scout.
